Secrets of Cuba

14 night tour offering an insight into this island nation

This Tour

Cuba is unique, a country infused with vibrant Latin flavours and endowed with a rich and turbulent history. Claimed for the Spanish by Columbus, grand colonial towns were built on the wealth generated by sugar and tobacco plantations. Following independence, Havana became the decadent playground of wealthy Americans, until in 1959 a Communist revolution led by Fidel Castro seized power. Ever since the country has been stuck in a time warp – charming colonial towns are left crumbling, sugar mills are deserted, and rusty 1950s cars still chug along the streets.

Essential Experiences:

• Sample one of Cuba's famous cocktails

• Explore the Pinar del Rio province, one of Cuba's most picturesque states

• Learn about Cuba's unique history

The Tour: Our tour of this beautiful island offers a fascinating insight into the country and its colourful history: visiting Old Havana, the picturesque province of Pinar Del Rio, the colonial towns of Cienfuegos and Trinidad, as well as many important sites associated with the revolution.

Accommodation: Cuba's unique political situation has resulted in the country's main tourism infrastructure being less developed than in many other destinations. Therefore, when away from main tourist cities, the  accommodation is often simple and food and service may not be to the same standards experienced in other countries. However, staying in these less visited areas offers a captivating insight into the culture and history of this fascinating nation.

Extensions & Alternative Itineraries: Extend your time on the beach. We include 3 nights at Breezes Jibacoa However, should you prefer to stay for longer 6 and 10 night durations are also available.

Group Sizes: The maximum size for this tour is 28 passengers. Typical group sizes will be between 12 and 20
