Journey through the Amazon
8 night tour including Amazon cruise
from £1,495
Galapagos extension
For anyone with an interest in wildlife, the islands of the Galapagos offer a perfect complement to your Amazon Cruise. Set in the Pacific Ocean and home to an incredible array of wildlife, much of it endemic to these islands, they are a fascinating destination. Having cruised through the Amazon, we have based our extension at the Finch Bay Hotel, a small eco-fiendly resort on the island of Santa Cruz, perfect for relaxation or as a base from which to explore the islands.
Day 9:
Quito to Galapagos
Instead of returning to London, continue by air to Baltra Island in the Galapagos. Cross the Itabaca Channel, which separates it from Santa Cruz Island and continue by bus to the highlands of Santa Cruz Island to visit the Giant Tortoises in their natural habitat. A stop is made at the Twin Pit Craters, great depressions of volcanic material, formed by a long process of slow sinking of the ground, where Scalesia trees, ferns, mosses and orchids can be seen. Continue to Finch Bay. 3 nights: Finch Bay - 3
plus eco hotel
Day 10:
North Seymour Island
Take a yacht excursion to North Seymour Island, where you can observe the Palo Santo trees and colonies of blue-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, magnificent frigate birds and sea lions.
Day 11:
Plaza Island
Visit Plaza Island, a small island full of fascinating wildlife: sea lions, land iguanas, swallow-tailed gulls, Opuntia cacti and vegetation that changes colors with the seasons.
Day 12:
Galapagos to Quito
Leave the hotel early in the morning for a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station, home to famous “Lonesome George” and many other giant tortoises. Then, overland transfer to the airport in Baltra to take the flight back to Quito for a further night. 1 nights: Grand Mercure Alameda - 4
international hotel
Day 13:

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to London.
