Owned by the local community, this lodge is built on a private reserve adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve. Located less than two hours from Puerto Maldonado it is easy to reach but still remote enough to be able to truly experience the jungle. Constructed using local materials, the lodge is not for everyone, there is no electricity (light is provided by kerosene lamps and candles and a generator is turned on once a day for anyone needing to recharge camera batteries), rooms are open on one side to the jungle and although each room has a private bathroom there is only cold water (which in the topical heat of the jungle is quite pleasant). However, for those that want to experience the jungle, this is an excellent opportunity with excellent wildlife observation opportunities and excellent service.
