Visit the largest jungle in the world and discover the incredible diversity of wildlife. Our optional extension takes you to The Tambopata Reserve, a carefully protected area of the Peruvian Amazon boasting an astonishing level of biodiversity. The reserve is home to over 1,300 species of bird, 200 mammal species, 90 frog species and 1,200 butterfly species. However, be aware that with the dense foliage wildlife can sometimes be hard to spot, however, it is worth visiting just for the opportunity to experience this unique environment.
Day 1 to Day 2:
London to Lima

Day 3 to Day 5:
Amazon Jungle
Fly from Lima to Puerto Maldonado and transfer by boat to your chosen lodge for the next 3 nights. During your stay there is a programme of activities into the surrounding rainforest to learn, explore and search for the resident wildlife.

Day 6:
Puerto Maldonado to Sacred Valley
Return to Puerto Maldonado for the flight to Cuzco, where you will be met and continue with the main itinerary from Day 3.
Lake Titicaca Extension - 2 nights from £250
Take an incredible train journey across the Altiplano to the city of Puno, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca. On a clear day you can see the peaks of the Cordillera Real on the Bolivian side of the lake. At over 12,000 feet the clear waters of Lake Titicaca are renowned as being the highest navigable waters in the world.
Day 8:
Andean Explorer
Rather than returning by air to Lima, transfer to the railway station for an incridble journey across the high altiplano to Lake Titicaca.

Day 9:
Lake Titicaca
A morning tour takes you to discover the Uros floating islands. These remarkable man-made islands are constructed from the local tortora reeds and were originally defensive, allowing the Uros people to easily move location should they be attacked.
Day 10 to Day 11:
Lima to London
Return by air to Lima for a final night before your return flight. Standard - 1 night: Casa Andina, Miraflores Centro - 3

Galapagos Extension - 6 nights from £1,345
For anyone with an interest in wildlife, the islands of the Galapagos offer a perfect complement to Peru. Set in the Pacific Ocean and home to an incredible array of wildlife, much of it endemic to these islands, they are a fascinating destination. We have based our extension at the Finch Bay Hotel, a small eco-fiendly resort on the island of Santa Cruz, perfect for relaxation or as a base from which to explore the islands.
Day 9:
Lima to Guyaquil
Fly from Lima north to Guyaquil, Ecuador's commercial capital, for one night. 1 nights: Hampton Inn - 3

Day 10:
Guayaquil to Galapagos
Continue by air to the Galápagos, and the airport at Baltra Island. Cross the Itabaca Channel, which separates it from Santa Cruz Island and continue by bus to the highlands of Santa Cruz Island to visit the Giant Tortoises in their natural habitat. A stop is made at the Twin Pit Craters, great depressions of volcanic material, formed by a long process of slow sinking of the ground, where Scalesia trees, ferns, mosses and orchids can be seen. Continue to Finch Bay.

Day 11:
Santa Fe Island
Take a yacht excursion to Santa Fe Island. Here a short trek leads through woods of Opuntia cacti and Palo Santo trees. Land iguanas (endemic to the island), lava lizards and colonies of sea lions can be observed. There is opportunity to swim and snorkel.
Day 12:
Plaza Island
Visit Plaza Island, a small island full of fascinating wildlife: sea lions, land iguanas, swallow-tailed gulls, Opuntia cacti and vegetation that changes colors with the seasons.
Day 13:
Bartolome Island
Travel by boat to Bartolome Island for a fairly steep climb to the summit for spectacular views of the Galapagos scenery. Sea lions and penguins swim in the vicinity of Pinnacle Rock and there is time for snorkeling or swimming from the beach before the return to Finch Bay. .
Day 12:
Galapagos to Guyaquil
Leave the hotel early in the morning for a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station, home to famous “Lonesome George” and many other giant tortoises. Then, overland transfer to the airport in Baltra to take the flight back to Galapagos for a further night. 1 night: Hampton Inn - 3

Guyaquil to London
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to London.
