Day 1: London - Istanbul

Flight from London to Istanbul. Arrive late afternoon and transfer to your hotel in the city. The remains of the day are free for you to relax in advance of a busy day of guided exploration tomorrow.

Day 2: Istanbul

Today, enjoy a full day guided excursion of Istanbul highlights including the Hippodrome, Hagia Sofia, the Grand Bazaar (Karpali Carsi), the Egyptian Spice Market and a cruise on the Bosphorus from Eminonu. This evening, we enjoy a Turkish grill dinner (including meats and vegetables) at an excellent local restaurant called Develi.

Day 3: Istanbul

Today, enjoy Istanbul your own way, or perhaps opt for our optional ful-day excursion with the following highlights: Chora-Church, Suleyman Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Topkapi Palace.

Day 4: Istanbul - Ankara

After an early breakfast, we drive across the vast Bosphorus Bridge from the European to Asian side of Istanbul where we join the motorway to Ankara. After arrival in Ankara early afternoon we will visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, which houses the magnificent collection of Neolithic and Hittite artefacts, before heading to the huge Kocatepe Mosque.

Day 5: Ankara - Cappadocia region

After breakfast, we drive to the vast salt lake, the biggest in Turkey. Heading onwards we visit an old caravanserai, wehre the camel-caravans in medieval times used to rest for the night. We reach the Cappadocia region around lunchtime. We also visit Derinkuyu underground city and Ihlara Valley.

Day 6: Cappadocia region

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day excursion of the region including Goreme Valley with its magnificent frescoed Byzantine rock churches, Uchisar with its dusted rock pinnacles, the village of Avanos - famous since ancient times for its pottery and Pasabag Valley.

Day 7: Cappadocia region - London

This morning, after breakfast, we transfer to the airport in Kayseri for our onward flight to London via Istanbul.
