Russia might seem a million miles from the UK, yet suprisingly, it is just a little over three hours flying time from the UK. Covering almost twice the area of the USA, Russia is a land of handsome natural contrasts, possessing an awesome and sometimes illustrious history and boasting Orthodox Churches with almost bold interiors, heady museums brimming with priceless cultural relics, architecture covering every style from pre-Medieval to post-Renaissance, the curious Cyrillic script and vodka, fine ballet, Tolstoy and Lenin amongst it's many national treasures.
In recent years interest has increased in the fine concept of cruising between Russia's two main cities and visiting the magical towns along these myriad waterways. Boasting medieval Kremlins, fortified monasteries and churches in surroundings remote from the modern cities of St Petersburg, Moscow and the rest of the world, a cruise will open up the treasures of provincial Russia. Commencing in St Petersburg - the city of Tsars, the MS Yesenin is out floating hotel on a cruising voyage on the Neva, Svir and Volga rivers, lake Lagoda and Onega, the White Lake and the Moscow/Volga canals. Concluding in Moscow, our 'Treasures of Russia' promises an experience rich with sights, culture and historical content.
Private Ballet Performance
Enjoy a cultural evening at the intimate rococo Opera Theatre in the former mansion of Baron von Derviz for a private gala ballet performance featuring artistes from the Mariinskiy (Kirov) Mussorgsky or other leading troupes. Fittingly, Russian champagne and caviar is during the interval.
