Discover the Orient: Japan, traditional and modern; the scenic beauty of southern China; the ancient wonders of Cambodia; and the vibrant cities of Bangkok and Hong Kong. Speed past Mount Fuji on a ‘Bullet Train’; cruise the Li River through spectacular countryside; and explore the wondrous temples of Angkor.

An excellent introduction to the magic of the East, our tour offers the opportunity to sample the sights, culture, shopping and wonderful cuisine of these intoxicating countries. We include trips to see the majestic temples of Angkor and the picturesque scenery of southern China, but elsewhere we leave time for you to explore at your own pace allowing you to discover ancient temples, peaceful gardens, royal palaces, bustling markets and exotic restaurants.

The tour starts in Japan, traditional and modern. Visit temples, castles and speed past Mount Fuji on a the famous Bullet Train. Next, to the vibrant city of Hong Kong: explore the clothes and food markets, take the Star Ferry across the harbour or take the Peak Tram for spectacular views of the city.

Travel by train into mainland China. Cruise the Li River through spectacular Chinese countryside and pass by local fisherman and small villages. Only a short flight and you're in Bangkok where the exotic east blends with the neon lights of the west. You are free to explore the delights that this exciting city has to offer. And finally to Cambodia and the timeless temples of Angkor Wat.

A few suggestions of what to do :

We have included sightseeing in China and Cambodia, leaving you free to explore the cities of Kyoto, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok at your own pace and to suit your own taste: whether it be art and culture, shopping and people watching, walking and eating or, best of all, a combination of all of these. Some suggested highlights:

Kyoto: Take the Philosopher’s Walk, a path between Ginkakuji temple and Nanzenji temple passing shrines, temples and teashops. Take a walk through the famous Gion area with a possibility of seeing a Geisha.
Tokyo: Play with the latest hi tech equipment at Tokyo’s Sony Centre, located in the upmarket shopping district of Ginza.
Hong Kong: Take the Star Ferry to Kowloon (a bargain at around 20p) for high tea at the famous Peninsula Hotel; by Peak Tram for views of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline.
Bangkok: The weekend market at Chatuchak, 15,000 stalls, 200,000 visitors.
