Yangtze River Cruise

Day 1 to Day 3:

London/Shanghai

Depart London for an overnight flight to Shanghai, arrive and transfer your hotel for two nights. Time is at leisure to explore this exciting and dynamic city.

Day 4 to Day 5:

Yangtze Cruise

After a morning at leisure take the short flight to the port of Wuhan on the Yangtze River where we board our vessel and set sail for our five night cruise up river..

Day 6 to Day 7:

The Three Gorges

Visit the world famous Three Gorges Dam project. This gargantuan piece of engineering is the largest hydro-electric scheme in the world, more than 5 times the size of the Hoover Dam and the cruise passes through the spectacuar 5 levelled ship lock. The cruise continues through the west part of the Xiling Gorge, the longest of the Yangtze gorges stretching for almost 50 miles from west to east. Enjoy an excursion along the picturesque Shennong river on a traditional pea-pod boat. Enter into Wu Gorge, the 2nd gorge of the Three Gorges and famous for its deep canyons and high peaks surrounded by misty fog - this is a truly spectacular stretch of the Yangtze River.

Day 8:

Yangtze Cruise

Continue into Eastern Sichuan province and the town of Wanxian, where there is an excursion to visit the museum, market and relocation village.

Day 9:

Chongqing/Chengdu

On the final morning of the cruise arrive into Chongqing. After a short city tour transfer to the railway station for a 4 1/2 hour train journey to Chengdu.
3 nights: Minshan Hotel - 4* city hotel

Day 10:

Chengdu

Today visit the Chengdu Giant Panda Research Base. Founded in 1987 the Panda Base is a non-profit Panda conservation and breeding facility. Set in 96 acres, this beautifully landscaped park has been designed to imitate the pandas' natural surroundings and has a very successful panda breeding record. The base is also home to other endangered wildlife including the elusive red panda. A short tour of the city is also included visiting Sichuan University Museum and Jinli cultural street before a typical Sichuan style dinner.

Day 11:

Huanglongxi

Enjoy a taste of traditional China, visiting the historic village of Huanglongxi. In a charming riverside setting, the village's cobbled streets are lined with traditional wooden shophouses and temples.

Day 12:

Chengdu / London

Transfer to the airport for your return flight back to London.
