We also include a visit to the historic town of Galle, a tea plantation and the ancient Kataluwa Temple.

Dolphin & Whale Watching

In recent years there have been consistent observations (in Nov-Apr) of whales by local fisherman off the south coast of Sri Lanka. Many different species have been spotted including the common blue whale, sperm whale, Bryde’s whale and spinner dolphins. Please note that we do not guarantee sightings of these beautiful creatures. Boat trips are always subject to local weather conditions

Climate

Sri Lanka has a complex climate with the monsoon occurring at different times of the year, depending on where you stay on the island. Udawalawe National Park is located in the south-east of the country and has a very dry climate with sporadic rain from October to December. The south-west coastal areas, including Galle, are blessed with beautiful warm weather and gentle sea breezes. The monsoon occurs mid-May to October

Did you know

Sri Lankan’s use the flower of the coconut tree to make the local drink toddy. Local men climb the coconut trees and tap the liquid from the flower. It is non-alcoholic when fresh, but ferments into a beverage similar to cider.
